Did you know granola bars are surprisingly easy to make at home? Plus, they’re a healthy and satisfying make ahead snack that’s perfect for when you’re on-the-go.
Below, I’m sharing my favorite homemade granola bar recipes, with a mix of sweet and savory versions!
Healthy Make Ahead Granola Bar Recipes
I’m a big fan of granola bars, for many reasons. They’re nutritious, protein-packed, portable, easy to make, great for prepping ahead, and easily customizable.
You can add tons of different mix-ins, from nut butter to dried fruit to chocolate chips, seeds, and more.
And if those weren’t enough reasons, they’re also super tasty! Plus, many granola bars are gluten free and vegetarian, and some are also vegan (if the recipe doesn’t call for eggs or honey).
Do I always have time to make my own granola bars? No, and that’s okay! Store bought is great too. But when I’m feeling creative in the kitchen and have some time to spare for meal prep, these are my go-to recipes.
So, without further ado, for all you fellow granola bar lovers, here is the list of my favorite homemade granola bars to make for some healthy snack inspiration. Enjoy!
Homemade Protein Granola Bars
I love a mix of nuts and seeds in granola bars for added staying power and nutrients. This recipe brings together peanut butter, mixed nuts, sunflower seeds, and whey protein powder for a protein-packed snack!
To add extra flavor and a hint of sweetness, it also mixes in honey, dried fruit, and shredded coconut – plus optional chocolate chips. Yum!
And speaking of not always having time to make my own granola bars – this recipe was actually inspired by a granola bar I used to buy all the time at a cafe I went to back in the day with one of my nutrition coaching clients!
Savory Pizza Bars
If you’re a pizza lover, you won’t be able to get enough of these crunchy and cheesy savory granola bars! They taste like pizza, with parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, oats, and seeds.
These healthy granola bars are super nutritious, with a mix of carbs, healthy fats, and protein. The perfect portable snack to stave off that afternoon hunger!
I feel like almost all granola bar recipes and bars you can buy out are sweet-forward, so it’s fun to have a savory option in the mix (especially for me as more of a savory palate person in general).
Vegan Granola Bars
These chewy granola bars are made without eggs, so they’re vegan (and also naturally gluten-free, as long as you use gluten-free certified oats).
They have a deliciously chewy texture, are lightly sweetened with pure maple syrup, and are easy to make. Plus, they’re packed with goodness like almond butter, walnuts, dried cranberries, and ground flaxseed.
Savory Curry Granola Bars with Puffed Rice
If you’re looking for something a little different, try these savory curry granola bars! The puffed rice makes them extra crispy, they don’t require any baking, and the flavor is so unique (and delicious).
The savoriness of the curry, peanut butter, and mixed nuts pairs so well with the hints of sweetness from dried mango, shredded coconut, and honey.
It’s a great combo when you can’t decide between sweet and savory!
Red Lentil Granola Bars
These vegan and fiber-packed bars feature a unique ingredient: red lentils! You won’t be able to taste them, but they add a nice dose of nutrients to this tasty snack.
Dried cherries add a lovely sweet-tart flavor, pure maple syrup adds just enough sweetness, and ground cinnamon adds a hint of warmth to the flavor. Plus, there’s plenty of protein in these, too, with the lentils, almond butter, ground flax, and walnuts in the mix.
I love to take these bars with me when I travel because they are filling enough to be breakfast on the go!
No Bake Peanut Butter Granola Bars
If you love lots of seeds in your snacks, these no bake granola bars are a must-try! They’re made with roasted pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds (or ground flaxseed).
They take five minutes to make, don’t require any baking, and are full of peanut-buttery flavor. Plus, they freeze well, so you can make a big batch and save some for later.
This is one of the very first recipes I posted on my blog and it has been a favorite of both my family and my readers ever since!
Honey Mustard Savory Granola Bars
If you love a salty-sweet flavor combination, these will be your new favorite snack!
This unique granola bar recipe features almonds, almond butter, puffed rice, oats, and a dijon mustard-honey mixture for a delicious, satisfying bar that’s packed with protein and will keep you nourished.
