Apple Cider Bourbon Fall Sangria
This fall sangria is a simple alternative to mixing cocktails for a crowd, but it’s just as tasty and festive. Autumn-inspired and pretty, too!
Enjoy the sangria iced as pictured, or heat it for a mulled wine variation that makes your house smell amazing.
Scents of cinnamon and apple wafting in the air – who could ask for a cozier feeling?!
Fall Sangria Ingredients
Generally, sangria involves some combination of red wine, fruit, and sometimes juice or brandy.
For this recipe, we’re swapping out the juice for apple cider, and using fruit that feels more like autumn.
The bourbon adds a nice kick, and the fresh spices deepen that delicious fall flavor. It turns out super tasty, without being too sweet!
Here are the ingredients for this easy fall sangria recipe:
- Red wine (I recommend using a dry red wine here. If the red wine is too sweet, it can be overpowering. For example, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and syrah would all be great wines to use!)
- Oranges
- Apples
- Apple cider
- Bourbon
- Rosemary
- Ginger
- Cinnamon sticks
How to Make Fall Sangria with Apple Cider
To whip up this delicious cocktail, simply cut the apples & oranges into thin slices and place into a large jar or carafe.
Then, add the other ingredients and pour the red wine and bourbon on top. If using an open jug/pitcher, be sure to cover with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate overnight (or up to 3 days). This lets the flavors mingle!
When you’re ready to enjoy the sangria, simply pour it over ice and enjoy! Feel free to add seltzer water if you want to give it some fizz. 🙂
Be sure to save some extra fruit slices and/or cinnamon sticks for garnish.
Rosemary springs add a nice touch, too!
This fall sangria is absolutely delicious iced, but if you want, you can always make it hot!
Just throw it on the stove for a warm mulled wine type variation. A bonus is that it will make your home smell amazing.
If you end up heating this sangria, just leave out the apple and orange slices. Serve them on the side instead so they don’t get mushy.
