Whether you are dairy free or not, dairy free soups can be just as satisfying and flavor-packed as soups made with dairy!
So, in the spirit of mixing it up, I wanted to share some of my dairy free soup favorites – from comforting, veggie-packed curries and chilis to lighter, refreshing soup recipes like gazpacho.
Flavorful & Healthy Dairy Free Soup Recipes
Some of these dairy free soups feature coconut milk for extra creaminess, while others are more broth-based. Some are on the lighter side, while others have lots of staying power. Either way, they’re all packed with veggies and super comforting.
Just a note that some of the photos below include dollops of Greek yogurt for serving, but the base recipes are dairy free, and you can easily leave that topping out or swap it for dairy free yogurt instead (just make sure it’s unflavored)!
And now, on to the list.

Vegan Black Bean Chili with Raspberries
This black bean chili recipe may sound a little different, but it’s so delicious – the lightly sweet and tart raspberries add so much flavor and an unexpected pop of juiciness to the mix.
Just leave off the optional yogurt topping to keep this recipe dairy free.
Curried Carrot Ginger Soup
This creamy carrot soup features a curry and ginger flavor combination that’s out of this world!
It’s easy to make, light, and super comforting at the same time. Plus, it’s packed with nutrients!
Instant Pot Chicken Tortilla Soup
If you haven’t tried making soup in the Instant Pot – here’s your push to try it! This chicken tortilla soup is super quick (just 30 minutes!) and easy and it’s SO good.
Simply leave out the optional yogurt/sour cream/grated cheese topping to keep the recipe dairy free. I promise it will be just as good without – it’s really versatile when it comes to toppings.
Some non dairy ideas I love are diced avocado, fresh cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and crushed tortilla chips!
Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk
If you’re looking for a comforting, flavorful soup, this is a perfect choice! It’s creamy from the coconut milk-based broth, has lots of vegetables and fresh herbs, and is even more delicious served over brown rice.
Did I mention it only takes 20 minutes to make? And, it’s equally good make with tofu or shrimp if you’re vegetarian or pescatarian.
Vegan Minestrone Soup
I love the fresh flavors of minestrone soup, and this one’s even more delicious because it’s positively packed with veggies and pasta! A lovely tomato broth rounds out this soup.
It’s perfect for cleaning out that vegetable drawer, because pretty much any vegetable (or legume) will taste great!
Dairy Free Turkey Barley Soup with Veggies
Looking for a super cozy and filling soup to warm you up? This easy chili features ground turkey, chewy barley, kidney beans, and tons of vegetables (like zucchini, tomatoes, mushrooms, and bell pepper).
If you don’t have barley, you can easily use farro or brown rice instead. Really, any similar grain will work, although I do especially love the chew that barley adds to the mix.
And again, simply leave off the optional yogurt topping here to keep the recipe dairy free!
Instant Pot Vegetable Soup
Introducing the ultimate vegetable soup! This veggie soup is super quick to make (thanks to the Instant Pot), full of flavor, and light but also filling.
This is another soup that’s great for using up leftover veggies, because it’s so versatile! You can also swap out the chickpeas for another grain, or add cooked pasta at the end if you’d like.
Or, toss in some leftover meat (rotisserie chicken and ground turkey are both yummy in this soup) – you do you!
Dairy Free Thai Chicken Soup with Coconut Milk
This Thai chicken soup features coconut milk for a creamy broth, plus mushrooms, bell pepper, lime, and fresh herbs for tons of flavor.
It comes together super quickly (especially if you use pre-cooked or rotisserie chicken), and can be enjoyed throughout the week!
Vegan Tofu Curry with Watermelon Rind
Did you know watermelon rind is edible, and takes on flavors super well (a lot like cucumber, but even more of a flavor absorber)? Save your rinds this summer and make this tofu curry!
It’s refreshing and comforting at the same time. Plus, it’s vegan, so everyone can enjoy it!
Dairy Free Butternut Squash Soup (Instant Pot)
This soup is the epitome of fall flavor: butternut squash with apple and fresh sage! Crunchy pumpkin seeds make a tasty topping, too, as does bacon (if you eat meat).
It’s smooth and creamy on its own, but feel free to top with a dollop of non-dairy yogurt for ultra creaminess – or leave it off entirely!
Vegan Thai Curry with Sweet Potatoes
This vegan Thai curry with coconut milk and lentils is the ultimate healthy comfort soup! Soft chunks of sweet potato make this soup even more nutritious and filling, and fresh herbs give it tons of flavor.
Serve it over brown rice for even more staying power!
Dairy Free Crockpot Turkey Chili
If you’re looking for a more classic chili recipe with a slight twist, this crockpot chili is made with ground turkey for a leaner yet comforting chili!
With zesty spices, kidney beans, vegetables, and the fact that it’s made in the slow cooker, this is a must-try.
Slow Cooker Moroccan Chicken Stew
With tons of unique flavors that work so well together, this slow cooker Moroccan chicken stew is a fabulous way to wow a crowd!
It’s easy to make, yet feels super satisfying and is packed with nutrients.
Chilled Avocado Gazpacho with Melon
Looking for a refreshing soup to make during summer? You’ll love this chilled gazpacho with avocado and cantaloupe!
It’s sweet and savory at the same time, with fresh herbs like mint and basil to take it to another level of deliciousness.
Butternut Squash Turkey Chili
This fall-inspired chili features ground turkey and sweet butternut squash. It’s even more delicious served with chopped avocado.
You can add dairy free yogurt if you want to make it extra creamy, but it doesn’t need it!
Chicken White Bean Chili
This white bean chili is super quick to make, especially if you use pre-cooked or rotisserie chicken! It’s really flavorful and cozy, with diced green chilis for a little extra zest.
This is one of our favorite weeknight meals – the whole family loves it.
Watermelon Rind Gazpacho
Here’s another soup that’s perfect for summer: watermelon rind gazpacho! Save those watermelon rinds to make this refreshing (and easy!) chilled soup.
Avocado, fresh herbs, and red onion add extra flavor for a unique and delicious dish.
