Two years ago, when I first shared here on the blog that I had decided to attend UNC-Chapel Hill for grad school, I received an explosion of comments with people telling me how awesome Chapel Hill is and how much I would love it.
At the time, I was wondering how awesome Chapel Hill could really be. But you know what? They were right.
Minus all the endless assignments and studying, I have absolutely loved my time here in Chapel Hill and there are so many things that I’ll miss about this town.
I’ll miss Fridays on the Front Porch at the Carolina Inn.
I’ll miss blasting country music with the windows open while driving down country roads. (And yes, my former northern girl self is appalled by the fact that I actually like country music now.)
I’ll miss biking down those same country roads with Matt.
I’ll miss the 70 degree weather in February.
I’ll miss the Old Well on campus.
I’ll miss getting ice cream at Maple View Farm.
I’ll miss the outdoor movies that played right by our apartment in the summer.
I’ll miss running on the Tobacco Trail.
I’ll miss me and Matt’s very first apartment together — and especially the porch that surprised us by being surrounded by beautiful flowering pink trees in the spring.
I’ll miss early morning track workouts on UNC’s baby blue track.
I’ll miss Weaver Street Market, and Sandwhich, and Jessee’s Coffee & Bar, and so many more places I can’t even think of right now.
And of course, I’ll miss Franklin Street Yoga.
This place has taken me from the occasional yogi to the full on yoga lover. If you are ever in town, you must take a class there. I went to my favorite hour and a half power yoga class last night for the last time with the girls (followed by one last dinner at Akai Hana, another favorite) and nearly cried during savasana when Lori played “Carolina In My Mind.” I made sure to get a picture with Lori, the studio owner and my favorite teacher, after class. I’ll miss you, Lori! I hope I can find a yoga studio at least half as good as yours in DC.
This photo makes me look so tall! Lori is just really short. 🙂
But of course, the thing I will miss the most about Chapel Hill is my friends.
Oh, the adventures we’ve had. 🙂
Until next time, Chapel Hill. Thanks for being awesome — I’ll miss you!

And now, it’s time for a new chapter in life and many new adventures up in DC. I’m excited to share them with all of you!
Matt and I are loading up the UHaul and making the move today, so I will probably be MIA for a few days until we’re settled. Catch you guys then from up north. 🙂
